Our end of season awards dinner will take place on Friday, April 12th at 6:00pm in the auditorium at the JCC. We will have pizza at the event but we also have a sign up online for extra food, drinks, and supplies. If you have anything left over from our Snapper-Thon dinner, please sign up for that item on the sign up.

To finish off our season, we have planned a fun practice in the pool as well as an end of season awards dinner.

Our fun practice in the pool will be on Friday, March 22nd at 5:00pm-6:00pm for the younger group and 6:00pm-7:00pm for the older group.

We will also be having our awards dinner on the night of Friday, April 12th and we will release more information on this event shortly.

As of now, our Championship meet is on for tomorrow, March 9th. As a reminder, I have included the meet information below. Also, it will be extremely hot tomorrow on the pool deck/ stands. Parents are encouraged to dress for “tropical” weather (but remember to bring warm clothes for outside of the pool). We will be in the gym, so swimmers should bring sleeping bags/blankets for in there as well as deck shoes/flip flops.

The 2013 ESSL Championship meet will be held on Saturday, March 9th, 2013 at the Valley Central Natatorium at Valley Central High School. Directions to the school are available in the “Meet Info”, “Meet Directions” section of the website. This is a meet designed to cumulate the season for teams within the Empire State Swim League.

To view the meet entries, please visit the “Entries” section of the “Stats” section of the website and select the entries for the ESSL Championship 2013. Please remember that to view the relay entries you must hit the “Relays” button which is located at the top of the page.

Each meet session will start with a fun parade around the pool, which will take place after warm ups. The parades for 10 & under athletes, 11-12 athletes, and 13 & over athletes will take place at 8:30am, 12:30pm, and 3:00pm, respectively. The presidential relay will take place after the 10 & under session (before 12:30) and will have time for a 15 minute warm up. Warm up times will be released after entries have been submitted, but general warm ups will take place at 7:30am for the 10 & under swimmers, 11:30 for swimmers in the Presidential Relay, 12:00pm for 11-12 swimmers, and 2:45pm for 13 & over swimmers.

Because of the large number of jobs that we are required to fill at the ESSL Championships and e have assigned parents to jobs for the ESSL Championship meet. This list can be fluid. If for some reason, you cannot perform your assigned job, just let us know. Although we tried to give parents jobs that we thought they would enjoy, if you would like to trade jobs with another parent, that can also be arranged. Thanks in advance for your support.

Due to concerns from parents, I wanted to remind everyone that the ESSL Championship entries in the notice titled “Warning- Championship Entries are Past Due” were the entries that were received by March 2nd. Any entries that were submitted after that date would not be in that notice because the notice was sent out prior to those entry submissions. The official entries were updated to include those late or Last Chance meet submissions. To double-check the final entries, please visit the “Entries” section of the “Stats” section of the website and select the entries for the ESSL Championship 2013. Please remember that to view the relay entries you must hit the “Relays” button which is located at the top of the page.

As part of our taper in preparation for the ESSL Championship meet, we will be shortening our final two practices. Practice on Wednesday, March 6th, and Thursday, March 7th, will run from 6:30pm until 7:00pm for the first session and from 7:00pm-8:00pm for the older session. Swimmers should be using their extra time to get a long sleep leading up to the meet.
